Billie Holiday
One of the world's most acclaimed blues singers Billie Holiday was born in Baltimore, Maryland. She was given the name Eleanor Fagan Gough at birth, but changed her name when she started a singing career. Billie moved to New York in 1929 to sing in the Harlem nightclubs. She quickly became a feature vocalist for several well known band at that time. Billie will always be remebered for her recording of "God Bless the Child" and "My Man".

John Coltrane
To introduce you in the brief space to one of the masters of modern music would be a sufficiently challenging task were he merely a great musician;John Coltrane.john was one of the most relentlessly exploratory musicians in Jazz history. The tenor saxophonist,a native of North Carolina who moved to Philadelphia, was 28 when he joined the Miles Davis quintet in 1955. Coltrane's tone and multi-noted,rhythmically complex solos with Davis quickly elevated him to the front ranks of Jazz.Trane played and composed music of various cultures. Though John Coltrane was laid to rest on July 21,1967, in New York, his spirit remains amoung us,all over the world.

Louis Armstrong
Louis Armstrong was one of the greatest of all Jazz Musicians. Louis was from New Orleans like most early jazz artist. He was from a very poor family and could not afford to have his own trumpet,but continued to listen to bands at jazz clubs. By 1917, at the age of 17, Louis played in Joe "King" Oliver"s band. For many years Louis traveled around the world playing many different bands until 1921. This is when Louis fufilled his life long dream of playing in the Creole Jazz Band. The beautiful sound of his trumpet will always be remember.
